Yoga Potential is the vision of Mary Elizabeth Sheehan.
Mary Elizabeth loves to play. The joy of moving led her to a 200-hour teacher training in Integral Hatha Yoga with Sonia Sumar, founder of Yoga for the Special Child®. The joy of helping others move more freely led her to study Vedic Thai Yoga Bodywork with Mukti Michael Buck, of the Vedic Conservatory (220 hours and counting!), and with one of his instructors, Dr. Anthony B. James, of Soma Veda College of Natural Medicine (another 200 hour program at his school in Florida).
When she is sitting still, you can often find her intellectually engaged in the philosophical tradition of yoga. Courses offered by Traditional Yoga Studies continue to enrich her both personally and professionally.
Mary Elizabeth’s instruction is rooted in the belief that we should all be just strong enough and just flexible enough to fully participate in whatever inspires us. She meets all her clients right where they are. By starting each session listening to the breath, she helps her clients become more aware of themselves – physically, emotionally, and mentally. This simple technique of assisting others to pay attention to their bodies’ needs has proven transformative. She works with adults and children of all levels and abilities, honoring the healing process as it unfolds.
Whether in a group class or a private session, Mary Elizabeth works with the body as it is today. She respects your current situation in life without judgment or expectation, and encourages you to do the same.
